Description:

Our discussion of the voyage Jesus and His disciples took to the "other side" continues as we turn our attention to the aftermath of the storm. Initially, our focus will shift to the stunning revelation of Christ's Deity, as He commands the elements of Creation to be still-- and they obey. We will then analyze the paradox between faith and fear. In particular, we will notice how the circumstantial fear of the storm worked to destroy the disciples' faith, while the more intense fear of "the Holy" built it up. We will grapple with the idea of "the Holy" and how essential it is to give God the glory in order for fear to lead to true faith. Ultimately, in preparation for the taking of the Lord's Supper, we will turn to the Means of Grace and particularly the Word of God for our own "encounter" with faith, fear and the Holy.
